11.06.05 - 11:32 p.m.

wow. what a weekend. first i went out (yeah!) i went and got a bit too drunk and spent a bit too much money but managed to be good and social and not say too many stupid things to the kind of crush.

but it was one of those activist inducing weekends. saw amy goodman (from democracy now) speak, saw this amazing group called the beehive collective show their stuff (they do amazing comic/art tapestry work that tells stories of latin american strife- ms. brazil you HAVE to check them out online) and then heard this social justice in the media guy named sut jalley talk about teaching about globalization. just all mindblowing shit and i am NEVER shopping at wal mart again (folks, they really do kill people) and i am going to DO something to make this world right! fuck yeah!!!

i'll let you know what it is as it happens. for now i just have to figure out what i'm going to do with my mom all day tomorrow. she's coming at 9am. sigh. at least if she came in the afternoon it would only be a one meal long visit. but we have to go through breakfast and lunch. double sigh. i'm a horrid daughter, no?

played soccer today. i am having huge crushes on a bevvy of african men. they are good looking, mostly, but the real thing they all have in common is this great fun energy. like lots of smiling and laughing and party-readiness. i like that very much. i want to figure out how to hang out with them outside of school. i touched my old crush a lot today. it was okay. i also saw my friend's jock strap a lot. jock straps are so not sexy. under any circumstance. they are not a man's thong. uh-uh.

i've been listening to john legend and trying to decide if i like him. i like one song a whole lot but it only has like two verses and then he sings the chorus four thousand times so i'm guessing in a week i'm going to be sick of it.
